Klevio is a UK smart home startup that recently launched its first product: a smart doorbell system that allows you to remotely control the front door lock via iOS and Android apps on your phone.
Known as the “Klevio One”, this device is designed to retrofit existing door locks and connect to the intercom system on the apartment door. According to Klevio, this means that it is more suitable for apartments than those smart door locks on the market.
Klevio co-founder and CEO AlešŠpetič said: "Our products are different from other smart locks on the market. Other smart locks need to be removed from the original door locks and then powered up. Now many apartments are used With the electronic door lock, the Klevio One only needs to be connected by wires. If the customer does not know how to connect, the Klevio installer can help them."
The main advantage of this approach is that Klevio does not have to produce the entire product, but instead spent a few years trying and testing the bell technology and simply adding smart connections.
This means that the Klevio One can be used on multiple doors at the same time, without having to renovate the apartment's public areas during installation, as the Klevio One is located in a separate apartment room. You can still use the old key as a backup, and people outside the apartment will not easily find Klevio's use. The Klevio system is cloud-connected, so it can remotely control the door lock and issue a virtual one-time use key.
The story behind the startup is also worth noting. Klevio's original concept and inspiration came from the 2016 “Upscale Airbnb” Onefinestay acquired by Accor. After the withdrawal, Onefinestay co-founder Demetrios Zoppos teamed up with CubeSensors' AlešŠpetič and MarkoMrdjenovič to create the new company and purchased the patents required for Onefinestay.
In addition, Onefinestay co-founder Greg Marsh and LocalGlobe partner Robin Klein are both Klevio investors. To date, Klevio has raised £1.2 million in funding.
